Chef Aaron Lesley, founder of Texas Oil Dust, is a last minute substitution for Johnny Vandergriff. Aaron is a BBQ pit master at Midland Meat Company and is ranked in the top 20 in America. Known for his seasonings (aka, Texas Oil Dust), Aaron has been smoking, grilling and catering for 11 years and competing in BBQ competitions for the past 6 years. Aaron will be competing for the national championship later this year. He loves spreading the love of wagyu beef through Midland Meat Company and representing the Scharbauer family as much as possible. You can find him cooking locally at the 1/2 Acre Restaurant at 1101 Washita, Midland, TX 79705.
Mario Sosa has been the Managing Partner of Bubbas 33 since July, 2021. Previously, he managed multiple restaurants and businesses like Cinergy and Whataburger. Mario brings a down to earth flair and soul food feel to his food. We’re excited to have last year’s Appetizer Champion back to the Tailgate!
Chef Ariel Godoy has been working for Chef Driven Restaurants (Cork & Pig Tavern and Red Oak Kitchen) since 2016. Under the guidance and training of Executive Chef Felipe Armenta, Ariel has become an absolute powerhouse in the kitchen. Originally from El Salvador, Chef Ariel began work in his family’s restaurants as a young kid. He has continued to grow and elevate his skills, here in the U.S. beginning as a line cook and now as the Culinary Manager. His favorite thing to cook is any kind of pasta, especially lasagna.
Since 2002, Opportunity Tribe has been helping great kids succeed through Op Camp. For over 19 years, the United Way of Midland has been generous supporters of Op Camp because they SEE THE RESULTS. Kids come back from camp happier, more confident and ready to take on their challenges. Not only that, but EVERY PUBLIC SCHOOL has sent kids to Op Camp!
